Anapu, Pará, Amazon Rainforest, Brazil • The Family Land of Jhordan Madian Costa de Oliveira
Sítio Catarinense is the family land of Jhordan Madian Costa de Oliveira, a student at the Casa Familiar Rural “Dorothy Stang” in Anapu, Pará. His parents came to this region in 2008 from the states of Santa Catarina and Paraná — which is where the property gets its name. In 2014 the family settled here for good, when Jhordan’s father acquired the land through an INCRA land settlement program.
“We have lived here since 2014, when my father acquired this 150-hectare property through an INCRA land settlement program. We work in agriculture and livestock farming, cultivating crops such as cacao, cassava, and corn, and raising cattle, among other activities.”
“My father was a truck driver before he became a farmer.”
“My mother still works as a teacher to this day.”
“My parents are from the states of Santa Catarina and Paraná, and they came to live here in this region in 2008.”
— Jhordan Madian Costa de Oliveira, in his own words (October 2026)
We walked and mapped the property with Jhordan and measured a boundary of 150.78 hectares — a footprint that matches his family’s 150-hectare claim almost exactly, computed independently from a hand-drawn boundary rather than taken on trust. Because those corners were typed by hand rather than captured by a GPS walk, the registry records this boundary as approximate; an authoritative INCRA polygon can upgrade it later.
Alongside the crops and cattle, the property holds dozens of protected giant Bertholletia excelsa — Brazil nut trees estimated at 300 to 400 years old. That is the mix this land already carries: a working farm, standing old growth, and room for more trees.
Tree planting here is not a proposal — it has already started. 92 young trees are registered in the SunMint tree registry on this property, planted in September and October 2026 and paid for in full. This is what the SunMint program is for: turning family land in the Amazon into a living registry of planted trees — each one photo-verified, geo-located, and visible on our impact map.
This plot is registered in the public SunMint registry as SC-P1 under the farm id sitio-catarinense-para. Its boundary, area and the trees planted on it are open data — you can read the same records we do, without asking us.
No cacao shipments yet — this is a tree-planting partnership plot, not yet a sourcing farm. We'll update this page when the first Sítio Catarinense harvest ships.
Sítio Catarinense is the family property of Jhordan Madian Costa de Oliveira, a student at the Casa Familiar Rural de Anapu “Dorothy Stang” — the school whose students plant native Amazonian trees on their own family land. Sítio Catarinense is one of those properties, 34 km from the school.
