Anapu, Pará, Brazil
Sítio Catarinense is a 150.78-hectare family property in the municipality of Anapu, Pará, on the Transamazônica. The land is held under INCRA settlement title dating to 2014. It is the family land of Jhordan Madian Costa de Oliveira, and it was mapped and registered on the SunMint impact map in October 2026 as plot SC-P1.
The farm story and full program detail live on the Sítio Catarinense farm page; this page covers the farm as a partner in the supply chain.
The property runs cacao alongside cassava, corn and cattle, and retains standing Brazil nut trees estimated at 300–400 years old — the kind of remnant canopy that makes agroforestry here a restoration story rather than a monoculture one. 109 trees have been counted and linked to this plot on the impact map.
SunMint records each tree individually: location, species, planting date, a photograph submitted as a file so its GPS metadata survives, and the planter’s identity. Every six months each tree is photographed again — once with a standard credit-card-sized identification card (85.60 × 53.98 mm) held at 1.30 m against the trunk as a scale reference, and once full-tree.
Jhordan is a student at the Casa Familiar Rural de Anapu “Dorothy Stang”, the rural family school at BR-230 KM 123 whose students plant native trees on their own family properties. Sítio Catarinense is one of those properties.
The farm sits in the same landscape as CEPOTX, the organic cacao cooperative of the Transamazônica and Xingu.
