We are visiting the greenhouse where the cacao seedlings are nearing the end of their initial growth phase. They stay here for up to three months before being transplanted. This is what a month-old seedling looks like.

Our technician, Fagner, who is in charge of our cabruca system, is with us today. We are planting over 1,000 cacao seedlings, and we’d like you, Gary, to plant your own cacao tree. Hopefully, in about a year and a half, it will already bear some fruit, and we’ll make your very own chocolate.

So, Gary, this is Fagner. Fagner, help me out here. Alright, let’s get started. You just plant it with your hands and throw in some soil. This is good cacao soil mixed with a little bit of chicken manure, so it’s perfect. Now, we’re going to mark this spot so you know this is your cacao tree.
